Happy Tuesday, I hope everyones week is off to a great start! I woke up this morning to an email that my environmental science class was cancelled, so it has definitely been a good morning so far. For today’s blog post, I’ve been taking into consideration wardrobe pieces that I have been wearing over and over again this fall season. Although it’s currently snowing in Chicago and it definitely feels more like winter than fall, I’m sharing with you a few staple pieces that can help you build a perfect wardrobe for the fall and winter season.
It’s really important to think about investing in quality clothing items that are going to last you a really long time. More specifically, splurge on classic items that will be in style for a long time and look for cheaper options of super trendy items because trends can come and go very quickly. I think these ten items are definitely splurge worthy if you find one worth spending money on. However, all of these pieces also have more affordable options to fit whatever budget you are shopping with. These items are my favorite during the colder seasons and you can create so many different outfits with all of these items.
To easily shop any of these items, just click the image and you will be directed to that item on the store’s website.
1. White Sweaters
Perfect for layering during the cooler temperatures and also they are super easy to accessorize. White sweaters can be worn with so many different items like skirts or jeans. You will get a ton of wear out of a white sweater
2. Over the Knee Boots
I bought my first pair like 4 years ago and they still are a staple in my fall/winter wardrobe. I get excited for the temperatures to drop so I can wear these boots. They go with everything and also they keep your legs warmer if you are wearing a skirt or a dress.
3. Straight Leg Denim
I used to only wear skinny jeans, but now that I bought the Levi’s Wedgie Jeans, I can’t get enough of straight leg denim. They fit slim throughout the legs which I love and they look really cute with booties or a heel! These are a classic type of denim fit that you will get a ton of wear!
4. Blazers
Blazers are not only cute for work, but they’ve also become a staple in any fashion lover’s closet. I’ve seen a ton of girls pair a blazer with a white top or graphic tee and a pair of jeans. A nice blazer is a must have piece in any closet.
5. Faux Leather Leggings
Faux leather leggings dress up any outfit and look so good with a long sweater over them. They are perfect for daily wear or nights out with a cute top. So many Instagram influencers and fashion bloggers love these types of leggings! They’re also comfortable to wear which is always a plus.
6. Scarves
If you live in a colder area, you know how important it is to dress in layers during the fall and winter seasons. Scarves are an easy way to stay warm but also accessorize your outfit. Living in Chicago and walking outside a lot more in the colder months, I find investing in a quality scarf worth it because I know I’ll get a ton of use out of it. However, you can always find a good scarf at a decent price.
7. Tote Bags
A tote bag is an important accessory in my fall and winter closet. For school, I use a Tory Burch tote bag instead of a backpack. I find it is much more fashionable. Tote bags are perfect for school or work!
8. White Sneakers
I think I wear white sneakers every day. My first year here I really tried to only wear booties. Eventually my feet got tired of being in a heel and now I wear sneakers everywhere. They are a staple shoe in anyones closet.
9. Sweater Dresses
Sweater dresses are perfect for the fall/winter seasons. You can wear them with or without tights, add some booties or over the knee boots and you will look so put together while also being comfy. Planning on wearing one for Thanksgiving so I can be comfortable but still cute.
10. Trench Coats
Saving my favorite item for last. Although its way too cold in Chicago to wear just a trench coat, I love wearing them during the fall season. Trench coats are very chic and they have been a staple for a long time. They easily dress up your outfit.
